What does 'Coming of Age' mean to me?
'They grow up so fast!' Have you ever an adult say thaever heard that? Parents, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, etc., all use this phrase. Describing us. What they mean is it seems like you are slipping through their fingers and there is no point of stopping you. That you are changing so fast. If you're a girl, your dad may have said, "You'll always be my little girl." Sound familiar? This is your father saying how much he wants you to stay little. He worries about you leaving him. That you would possibly not come back. That you would forget about him. That you will leave and never come back. He wishes you were little again. To hold you in his arms and cradle you. He wants you to be his little girl forever. But sometimes forever is never long enough.

Coming of age is also a time that is exciting. Always wanted a car? Well once you come of age, you can finally take that test, and get that nice car or truck you wanted. Want to move out of your parents house? You can do that too. Once you have come of age, of course. Grandparents; they take the fact that you are growing older as a bad thing. Because they are getting older too. They wish they had lived life to the fullest. Some of them have, and don't mind getting older. They've fulfilled their life goals. Their bucket list is completely checked off. In my opinion, everybody should do just that. Have a bucket list, and don't be afraid to check everything off. Ever wanted to skydive before you die? Go ahead. (ONCE YOU ARE OF AGE!) So this is what coming of age means to me. It can be a bad thing for parents, but a good thing for you. You can finally fulfill your life. Make it all worth it. No regrets.
